If you have a file that is comprised of pages from either a book or a journal article that you’ve scanned to create a PDF document, you may need to remediate the file
to make it editable and searchable for users and / or accessible to screen reading devices. While each of those features improves accessibility and navigability for all users, they are particularly helpful to those who are visually impaired and
require a screen reading device to assist them in accessing your
file. The task of converting an image file to a text based file can be completed in Adobe Acrobat using Optical Character
Recognition (OCR) tools sets, and the steps to accomplishing that objective are demonstrated in this video. As always, if you need immediate assistance with a technical matter, or if you would like to schedule either a one-on-one or a group training session, please contact TTUHSC's Student Disability Office at [email protected]
